Suggest Remedies For Dryness And Soreness Inside The Mouth

The last two days I have woken up with a very very dry mouth. Not like this ever before that I can recall. Then I drank a little alcohol last night and it felt like I was pouring it into open cuts in my mouth. Just ate some salted nuts and got sensitivity too. I can't see any sores or openings or anything else unusual, color looks normal not inflamed. This is affecting my lips and the inside of my mouth. Not the gums or tongue. Thoughts what this could be?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of dryness and soreness inside the mouth which is mainly due to dehydration of oral cavity and enlargement of papillae of tongue. It could be due to nutritional deficiency and burning mouth syndrome. Need not to worry.

I would suggest you to

- Drink plenty of water. Take diet rich in fluids.

- Take multivitamin tablet to booster immunity of oral cavity.

- Chew on few drops of lemon or put them in oral cavity to stimulate taste secretions.

- Maintain hygiene and do beta-dine gargles two times a day.

If your symptoms did not resolve in one week visit oral physician once and get it examined properly and start treatment as per prescription.

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Get Well Soon.

Best Wishes,
Dr. Harry Maheshwari
