Suggest Remedies For Chronic Diarrhea And Loss Of Appetite

My husband has had diarrhea for two months. No blood in stool and no vomiting. He s lost 30 lbs. and has loss of appetite. He has COPD and emphazema, but has not changed meds lately. I called the doc but they can t get him in until next Friday! Should I take him to ER tomorrow ?

Hi,
Thanks for asking.
Based on your query, my opinion is as follows.
1. Chronic diarrhea could be due to intestinal malabsorption. Will require stool examination, colonoscopy for further evaluation.
2. Give him fluids with oral rehydration salts and normal diet.
3. If he is very weak or highly irritated, then take him to ER immediately. If he is active, he can wait to meet the doctor and get tests done.
Hope it helps.
Any further queries, happy to help again
