hi, your husband most possibly has suffered an ankle sprain. Management includes - rest, ice, leg elevation and simple painkillers. Avoid weight bearing on the affected foot for a couple of days. The swelling and pain should subside within 5 days. If swellin or pain persists after 5 days please consult your doctor.

thank you
