Suggest Precautions For Typhoid Fever

Hello Doctor, My father has around 50HPF pus cells in urine. He had suffered from typhoid(White) 2years back. Doctors are suspecting it may come back so every alternate day he is undergoing a urine test. Last time when he had typhoid he became very weak. What precaution should he take to avoid the typhoid again..

Hello and welcome to HCM,

Presence of pus cells in urine suggests infection in the urinary tract.
I would suggest you to consult your primary health provider for prescription of antibiotic to treat the urinary tract infection.

Typhoid does not present with pus cells in urine.
Typhoid presents with fever and extreme weakness.
Typhoid fever is diagnosed by Widal test.
Widal test is done on blood.

Typhoid fever is transmitted by contaminated water.
Thus, typhoid can be prevented by avoiding contaminated water.

If there is any suspicion of typhoid fever, it can be confirmed by Widal test.
However, the test should be done before taking any antibiotic.

Thanks and take care
