Hello and welcome to HCM!
I read carefully your concern.
Usually the under active thyroid or hypothyroidism is a chronic disease and the treatment is long term. Six weeks after starting levothyroxine you should check TSH level and adjust the levothyroxine dose.
So, the aim of the treatment is not to cure the thyroid pathology but to substitute the hormone that the thyroid gland should produce.
