Suggest Normal Blood Pressure Range

I had my blood pressure taken at the dentists yesterday afternoon and it was 158 over 78. I am a 60 year old woman. Is this reading OK for someone of my age? What would be considered the best blood pressure reading for someone of my age? My height is 5ft 4.5in and weight 8st 9lbs.I have never had any serious health issues, currently have no known health problems and am not taking any pills or medication.

Normal blood pressure in young age group is ( 20-40 years ) 120/ 80 mm of Hg. 120 is upper one known as systolic blood pressure ( occurs due to contraction of heart) ,while lower one 80 is due to diastole of heart ( dilatation of heart) . Mild irritation , anxiety , fear ,emotion , happiness , enjoyment , consultation or visit with a doctor or a new person elevated systolic blood pressure ( upper one as in your case it was 158 because you visited a dentist ) . This type of blood pressure is not due to disease and have no significance , so need not to worry.
But as age advances blood pressure increases ( as may be in your case and this is not due to any disease ).
