Suggest Medications For Migraine During Pregnancy

I am 38 weeks pregnant and am getting my second migraine in three days. The pain is on the left side of my tempel. My blood pressure has been normal throughout my pregnancy, except the last two weeks where is was slightly elevated to 140/80. Is this a sign of pre-eclampsia? Should I contact my OBGYN?

Thank you for the question and thank you for visiting our site.

Yes, preeclampsia has to be the assumption. It is defined as an elevation in blood pressure, swelling and protein in the urine. Your blood pressure is pretty close to the level that defines this as the problem. Headaches are a sign of more severe preeclampsia, and this is all more likely later in pregnancy. You must contact your doctor and expect that they will want to see you, check a blood pressure, check labs related to preeclampsia, possibly check a 24 hour urine collection for protein, and possibly talk about delivery at 39 weeks.

I hope that this helps and good luck!
