thanks for asking your query i completely understand your concern actually dry cough at night only can be a problem in ex smokers or smokers.secondly if reguritation is a problem the you should use proton pump inhibitors like pantoprazole once daily that will cure the problem of cough due to regurgitation . if it is like fever with chills along with cough and some kind of chest pain then you should consult a pulmonologist , he can guide you. because it appears like pneumonia but in pneumonia cough is productive along with fever and chills and phlegm or sputum is yellow for which he should take some antibiotic like cefexime for two weeks . and if it is the starting of pneumonia nothing will come in chest xray . and pneumonia can be due to some anaerobic pathogens in case of regurgitation of flyid from stomach and in that scenario a drug for those pathogen should be added like metronidazole . third thing is if this problem is persosting you can have a sputum examination done for afb that is for tb and one for pyogenic organisms that will resolve the problem do bot panic take some advise from a pulmonologist he can guide you the best thanks/ regards feel free to ask questions may god bless your family with good health
