Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am performing umra and hajj next week and i just want to make sure that my period is not going to mess with that once in a lifetime event. My OB prescribe Hemostan incase the blood flows heavy.. But i really want to postpone my period just for a month if it s possible. Can you advice any help? This would really mean a lot to me. Thanks!
Hello, thanks for posting on HCM. Yes I understand your situation. It is very much possible to postpone your period. You need to start Norethisterone containing pills just 4 to 5 days before you suspect the date of your periods. You can continue to take the pills as long as you want to delay the periods but not more than 1 week. Once you are done with your visit you need to stop the pills after which in 3-4 days your period will start. But it is very important to discuss this option with your gynecologist and take proper prescription from him/ her to start the medication. I hope I have given satisfactory answer to your query, if you still have any more query kindly write back to me and I will be happy to help. Thank you
