Suggest Medication To Control Symptoms Of Hypothyroidism.

I am a 22 year old female with a family history of hypothyroidism, last year I checked my thyroid status, found to have TSH level around 45,prescribed with 88mcg of thyronorm, one month later I had severe palpitations, irregular pulse rate so dose was reduced 25mcg,thereafter I checked twicc,my TSH level was normal.but now I am getting worse with symptoms like neck swelling enlargement, excesive hair loss.wgt gain,hoarseness,...but due to some dire circumstances I am not able to check my TSH right now,so is it fine if I increase my dose myself to 50mcg and then check my TSH after one month?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello
Since you know the diagnosis and also good thing that previously you took treatment for the same .
The normal value of T SH is 0.5-4.7 m U/L .
In your case as you were taking thyronorm and responding very well , so if symptoms are an indication of hypothyroidism you can take 50 mcg tablet .
Thyronorm is LEVOTHYROXINE SODIUM & used as in severe & chronic hypothyroidism initially 12.5 -25 mg ,but you are already taken this drug , so it is safe to take 25 mcg.
Good luck.
