I have had strep throat for about a week now. One day my throat feels fine the next its painful. Everything is swollen and red. Recently ive been spitting non stop. No blood. What could be the cause? Should i be worried? Is there anything that can stop the spitting?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems that you are suffering from Bacterial throat infection also known as Strep throat and the symptoms of throat pain, redness in throat and swelling that is Pharyngitis seems to be due to it..

Non-stop spitting is due to inflammation and irritation in throat leading to stimulation of the salivary glands and excessive production of saliva..
Also a feeling of excessive salivation is due to difficulty in swallowing of the saliva leading to feeling of excessive salivation..

For reducing excess salivation you can gargle with antiseptic mouthwash and it will help in reducing salivation as it has a drying effect in mouth..

For confirmation consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like Throat swab culture can help in diagnosis..

For reducing infection you can be advised a course of antibiotics like Augmentin, anti inflammatory painkillers like Ibuprofen, doing warm saline gargles, steam inhalation and using a humidifier in your room can help..
You can also suck throat lozenges, chew Vitamin C pellet and avoid spicy and chilled foods..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
