for as long as i can remember i havnt been able to poop properly. im 16 and i poop once every week/ week and a half, sometimes 2 weeks or longer. when i poop they are very big and hurt a lot. i dont know why im like this but i am starting to get bad stomach pains. can you tell me why i might be like this or what i can do? its like my poop is fighting to get out of my body but my body closes up and wont let it. i just wish i knew what to do to fix this problem before it starts to really hurt my insides.
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted the history of constipation for days together, sometimes for weeks. The feeling of pain and the body not allowing can be understood. The causes can be: Weak muscle action of the colon. Anal sphincter tightness. I would advise you the following: Consult a Gastroenterologist. Manometry studies. Saline soap enema and laxative to clean the bowel completely. Colonoscopy and CT scan Stool tests. Blood tests particularly to rule out diabetes. Once the cause is found the treatment will be specific and you have normal life. Identify the foods and beverages that cause the problems so that you can have diagnosis and proper treatment.
