Allergist and Immunologist 's  Response
Hello Raj,

Thank you for asking at HCM.

I went through your history and would like to make following suggestions to you:

1. As you have a long-standing problem, I usually prescribe my such patients intranasal corticosteroids (Mometasone furoate or Fluticasone propionate) for at least 2-4 weeks, montelukast and levocetirizine for at least 4-6 weeks.

2. I also would suggest you to use inhaler salbutamol or levosalbutamol on as-and-when-needed basis for asthma symptoms or wheezing or breathing difficulties.

3. It is important to mention here that all the medicines can usually "control" allergy/asthma symptoms, they cannot "cure" them.

4. I would suggest you allergy testing which will help you identify the substances you may be allergic to and also to know the measures to avoid them.

Based on the allergy testing, an Allergist-Immunologist may prescribe you allergen specific immunotherapy which works on immune system to gradually improve allergy symptoms over a long period.

5. In general, I would suggest you to avoid exposure to dusts, smokes and air pollution.

6. Regular breathing exercises and a healthy diet rich in vitamins & minerals (adequate amounts of green leafy vegetables, fruits, sprouts, etc) will also help you in a long run by improving your lung capacity and immunity respectively.

Hope above suggestions will be helpful to you.

Should you have any further query, please feel free to ask at HCM.

Wish you the best of the health.

Thank you & Regards.
