Suggest Medication For Itch In Toe After Injury

Hi there, 3 days ago I dropped a knife on my foot and cut my big toe open, about a centimetre length cut. Since then it has started to close and is healing. An issue that I have noticed since yesterday is my toe, not near the cut, is very itchy, and has skin coloured very small lumps that are very hard to see but you can feel them if you run your finger over the toe. I am concerned the cut has somehow caused this. I have used "Bactroban" Ointment - GSK which says it is Mupirocin 2% w/w in water soluble base. My toe is very itchy!

General & Family Physician 's  Response
hello and thank you for asking HCM,

I understand your concern. At firts I thought that this could be an infection, but then you mentioned that you used an antibacterial cream. So I suppose that this could be an allergic reaction to this cream. My suggestion is, stop using this cream and keep your finger dry and clean. Try to avoid any other cream. If you notice any other changes, swallowing or pain, go to your GP.

I hope this answer was helpful to you.
