Hi Satosh, I am having 1 and half year daughter. Since last 5 days she is having high fever between 102F to 104 F in every 5-6 hours. Doctors suggested to give her Crocin DS 3 ml every 5-6 hours. It s looking like a viral fever. But wanted to know why it s taking time to cure. Please suggest any other medicine for fever.

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi, Your doctor has diagnosed viral fever in your child( That is fever without cough, cold, any other infection/skin rashes- in case these thing appear, take the child to doctor for advise of antibiotic))viral fever as controlled automatically within 5-7 days. Only care to be taken till then are- To keep the temperature to normal by medication. Medicines like Paracetamol(Crocin),Acetoaminophen(Tylenol),Ibuprophen(Advil) can be given as per your doctor's advice. It is important to give the Crocin 6 hourly-to avoid rise of temperature.( in order to avoid symptoms like irritation/temperature convulsions/weakness) Keep the baby well hydrated/well nourished. Cold sponging/salt & water pack can be used in case of uncontrolled temperature. In case temperature does not come to normal ,child needs investigations for finding cause of the fever(infection, malaria) Thanks.
