Suggest Medication For Diarrhea And Dark Brown Vomiting

My 2 and 1/2 year old son has had diarrhea (very watery) for 2 weeks now. His doctor said it was a bug but it hasn't gone away. He is also vomiting, but only at night. The diarrhea is very foul in smell as well as the vomit. The vomit has become a dark brown color. I am very worried.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi, thank you for posting.

Diarrhea at children is an emergency. The treatment contain ORS(Oral Rehydration Solution).
The most common causes of diarrhea are: virus and bacterial infections.

The dark brown color shows that your child has stomach hemorrhage.
You should take your child to the Emergency Room to get the right treatment, because your child has had diarrhea for 2 weeks and he needs perfusion rehydration.

He also needs the following tests:
1. Complete blood count.
2. Urine test.
3. Stool culture, to identify the bacteria.

The results of these tests will determine the treatment.

Contact a pediatrician.

Regards.
Dr. Behar.
