Hi,I am Dr. Santosh Kondekar (Pediatrician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My 3 1/2 year daughter is having fever of 102 to 103. We r giving paracetomol 250 mg suspension( 4 times a day) and Meftal syrup(3times a day). The fever coming down and with in an hour again shooting. This is happening for the last 2 days. Can I give Crocin suspension in place of paracetomol and see any betterment.
I understand your concerns but don't worry. Fever is a defensive response of our bodies against infections.
Since, it's not responding to paracetamol and Meftal, so I would recommend you to check for the doses. Give paracetamol at 15 mg/kg/dose ( max. 500/dose) and Meftal at 5 mg/kg/dose. Crocin is just a brand for paracetamol. So, no need to change medication.
Use medication only for fever spikes above100 degrees Fahrenheit. Also, give tepid sponging for relief.
In case the spikes persist, then go for proper clinical examination and laboratory work up to rule out any bacterial infection.
