Suggest Medication For Clogged Ear And Running Nose

was diagnosed with bronchitis was prescribed z pack - hydrocodone cough syrup. and proventil - been over a week cough under control - breathing good. but i still have a clogged ear and my nose keeps running. went back to the doctor told me to take sudafed and afrin and gave me a scrip for prednizone. been 4 days ear still clogged and nose still running. It this somthing that will run its course or should I be worried about my ear???? - No pain just a heavy head and muffled hearing

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern..

As per your complain it seems that due to infection causing bronchitis as well as cough and phlegm formation and post nasal drip there has been infection and fluid accumulation behind the ear drum that is leading to clogged feeling in ear..

The medications advised to you are appropriate and you can continue with the same for the advised time duration..
You can also take decongestant nasal drops containing Xylometazoline as it can help in unclogging the ear..

In case if it still does not open up get an Otoscopic examination done and in case if there is fluid accumulation manual drainage can be established to relieve the infection and also unclog the ear..

Avoid excessive water exposure to ear..
Do not pick the ear with q-tip as deeper penetration can damage ear drum..
Do not try to pop and unclog the ear as it can also cause perforation of ear drum if excessive pressure is applied accidentally..
