Suggest Medication For Chest Infection And Asthma

Hello doctor,my wife is an Asthma patient since childhood and has been using formonide 200mg roto inhaler for some years now.A couple of weeks back she had developed chest infection and was on antibiotics, but even after the prescribed coarse
completion she is not getting relief. Meanwhile she was also asked by a doctor to use 400 mg for sometime. But i am concerned on prolonging the usage of 400 mg as I believe then to go back to 200 mg might become difficult.please suggest. My wife is of 26 yrs now, with 5ft 2" and weighs 59kg.

I think you should go for Chest X ray 1st and rule out infection weather increasing or decreasing. And go for CBC with absolute eosinophil count. Step up the antibiotics. If infection is not cleared your wife s asthma will not be controlled. So investigate in depth for infection in the form of sputum culture BAL culture etc.
