Suggest Medication For Blood Clot In Leg

Hello, I have a blood clot in my right leg. Have been going to the VA but they cannot prescribe anything but warrafin which I have a bad reaction to. Blood pressure increases to ~ 180 and blurred vision. All the local Drs I call tell me to go to emergency room, but I have already been to emergency room twice at the VA. How can I get a prescription for an anti coagulant other than Warafin? Currently I am taking asprine, flax seed oil, niacin, i.e. herbal blood thinners. I took Luvanox shots for one week, then warrafin for 3 weeks. swelling in leg is reduced, but not back to normal. INR on 5 mgs warrifin s 1.1, kidney function 1.4 . It would seem to me I need a anticoagulant metabolized by liver, but VA can t get through the red tape . I have no insurance, can t afford several thousand dollars at emergency room.

Hi,
Thanks for asking.
Based on your query, my opinion is as follows.
1. INR should be maintained at a higher rate.
2. If you are having reacting to warfarin, better to go for heparin or other new anticoagulants like razaxaban, idraparinux etc.
3. Being mobile is the most important thing to avoid blood clot in leg or deep vein thrombosis. Meet your doctor to get a prescription for heparin.
Hope it helps.
Any further queries, happy to help again.
