Suggest Medication For Adult Nightmares

My husband left me 11 years ago. We were married 26 years and in 2004 he made up a very believable story and ended up taking another woman to Mexico without my knowlege. We divorced and I have since forgiven him but continually have dreams about him leaving me and is with another woman. I get very angry in these dreams and have been having them almost every night since this happened. Do you know why these dreams won't go away

Psychiatrist 's  Response
Hello thanks for asking from HCM for your health related doubts

I can understand your concern. He left you after 26 years of marriage and this caused sudden trauma and this is the probable cause of the weird dreams and rumination. A lot of individuals after severe mental trauma develop disturbances of sleep, increased REM sleep which cause increased dreams. Please visit a psychiatrist for help if this is causing significant disturbance to your day to day life. Drugs like Ramelteon or Melatonin can help to normalise the altered sleep rhythm and should definitely help you. Visit a doctor for prescription of these drugs.

Thanks, Hope this helps you.

Take care
