Hi, my father is 78 years old. he has been taking Bisoprolol Hemifumarate 2.5 mg 1 tablet daily. with this tablet his BP remains 120-125/80. some times his systolic pressure rises 150-160 with pain on the neck and head. should he take additional doses of above tablet to reduce the pressure when this symptom arises.

Dear sir

Bisaprolol belongs to group of cardioselective betablockers, which decreased the heart rate and causes decrease in the blood pressure..

Secondly there are so many betablockers which are cardioselective and good to use like
Atenolol
Cardevelol
Nebivolol

These group of drugs are not potent antihypertensives. If you are not able to control your blood pressures with these you can add a new group of drugs rather than increasing the dosage.
The best group of drugs like alpha receptor blockers, calcium channel blockers.

But consult your doc with these options

Thanks
