Suggest If To Continue The Medication For Respiratory Infection.

Hi Dr. Ram Choudhary.
I have an upper respiratory infection-no antibiotic yet but my allergist gave me a prescription if it goes more into 6 days. It has been more than 6 days. Should I get the amoxycilin prescription today?
I have had pneumonia twice in the last 4 years and I am a survivor of ovarian/uterine cancer.

Thanks for your question on HCM.
I can understand your situation and problem.
If you are not improving with drugs since 6days then better to start antibiotic.
Prolong URTI (upper respiratory tract infection) can lead to lower respiratory tract infection (LRTI - pneumonia), if not treated properly.
And incidence is high in cancer patients as their immunity is very low.
So in your case, I will advise you to start broad spectrum antibiotic.
In this forum, we can not provide you prescription, so you need to consult your doctor for prescription of antibiotic.
