Suggest First Aid For For Cut On Finger

My 20 month old little girl cut her finger a little by touching a knife blade. I let it bleed out , cleaned the wound and put a bandage not too tight around her thumb. She s not crying anymore and managed to fall asleep normally. What signs should I look for that would make me take her to the hospital immediately. Thank you

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello maam,

As your child is just 20 months old,so she would not be complaining anything about her wound except crying.

But i would suggest you to take her to a doctor if
The wound is still bleeding,
The size and gaping of the wound is large.
In these circumstances, she may require stitching of the wound.

Meanwhile,you can give her antibiotics,
analgesics like paracetamol,
ointment containing mupirocin.
Apply a light cotton gauge dressing applied with the ointment.

Hope my reply helps you.
Take care
