Suggest Dosage Of Ciprofloxacin For Colon Infection

Hello, I have a quick question. My doctor prescribed ciprofloxacin hcl 500 for colon infection, 7 days, followed by 3 more days, this was about 3 months ago. It looks like iam getting the infection back again. I have 6 tabs left for 3 days. Can I finish the 3 days that I have left? or will this have problems since is not the 7 days recommended? Thanks TG

Emergency Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for writing your query.

After reading your post, I would advise that you should get your stool examined for any infection or parasitic infestation.

If the stool reports suggest infection, you can take the appropriate antibiotic for the infection.

You should take full course of the antibiotic for 5-7 days.
A clinical evaluation by your doctor will help in planning further medical management.

I hope this is helpful to you.
Thanks.
