Hello, Thanks for the query. Usual recommended dose of Paracetamol for infants is 10 to 15 mg per kg per dose, 3 to 4 doses a day, depending upon the severity of fever. Hence for a baby of 2.6 kgs you may give about 30 mg per dose, that is if the preparation has 125 mg per ml (20 drops), per drop 6.25 mg drug is present so you can give 5 to 6 drops per dose, 3 to 4 times a day. If fever is present then it can be given every 4 to 6 hours in the above mentioned dosage. The effect of paracetamol lasts for a maximum of 4 to 5 hours, as the effect wears off temperature does go up. Unless the cause of fever is taken care of fever may continue to occur. Thanks.
