Suggest Diet Plans For A Patient With Thrombocytopenia

hi doctor.my father is suffering from hepatorenal syndrome.he is having ascites,edema.he is also a diabetic patient with thrombocytopenia.his platelet counts are 50,000 only.can you please tell me what diet should he take in this kind of liver disease with thrombocytopenia? ?

Hi, I have gone through your query and understand your concern.

For hepatorenal syndrome and ascites, he must avoid salt intake to about 2-3g/day. Avoid red meat and take soft diet.

As he is diabetic too, so he must restrict carbohydrate intake like refined sugars and bakery items (burgers, pastries, fried junk foods). Keep a record of his blood sugar levels and follow up regularly if his blood glucose levels are not controlled.

Besides these, continue taking treatment as advised by his physician.
