Suggest Diet For Ulcers Or Inflammation In Intestine

Hi, I am 29 yrs old, female. I had a colonoscopy back in 2010, and my doctor found ulcers in my smalll intestine. He used the term "terminal ileitis" as opposed to Crohn's disease, but the findings of the colonoscopy showed no Ulcerative Colitis, Crohn's, or terminal ileitis. He said I am prone to ileitis and Crohn's if I don't watch carefully what I eat. My brother has ulcerative colitis, so that is what prompted me to get a colonoscopy.

Do you have any dietary recommendations for me to reduce the ulcers/inflammation in my small intestine? Thank you :)

You need to eliminate foods from your diet which cause intestinal irritation such as gas forming foods, spicy and harsh fibrous foods. Cut down on the intake of caffeine from coffee, chocolate, tea, cola drinks. Avoid stress as emotional stress can also trigger ulcer formation. Have soft foods which are rich in soluble fibres like oat bran, apples without skin, guava, kidney beans etc. Avoid acidic foods like citrus fruits and tomatoes. You can have milk and milk products like curd/cheese and buttermilk. Avoid meat extracts and rich gravies and oily curries, fried and fatty foods all of which can cause increased acid secretion.

Have simple easily digestible foods along with plenty of liquids to prevent constipation. Avoid gas forming vegetables like raw onions, cauliflower, radish, cabbage, dried peas etc.
