ENT Specialist 's  Response
in my opinion you are suffering from tonsillopharyngitis. tonsil ulcer/ membranous tonsillitis is there according to your symptoms. as your pain is reduced, I would suggest you to stop azithromycin. but carry on gargles and chlorhexidine gargles also help. take antihistaminic treatment, hot bath, steam inhalation. avoid cold drinks and smoking as smoking also irritate mucosa and exaggerate inflammation. if these kind of tonsillitis episode recur again and again, I would recommend you to go for tonsillectomy.
