Suggest Cure For Swelling And Soreness At The Back Of Tongue

The taste buds on the very back of my tongue feel swollen. I have had a cough for 3 weeks & was treated for bronchitis but now I think its caused by the taste buds. Is this a possibility and how do I treat it? Will they swell enough to cut off my breathing?
