Suggest Cure For A Problem In The Veins

After my husband had a cabbage done in year 2000, his surgeon said he was full of vericosities, especially his legs. They harvested from both legs, both arms and his mammory to complete the bypass. His doctor also said, he should never smoke again. He has his nuclear stress test annually and passes without having to have an angiogram. But, he can barely walk or stand anymore. He has no energy and is a diabetic on an insulin pump who refuses to watch his diet or stop smoking. He is 5'10, 265 lbs and all his weight is around the middle. What is his biggest risk?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Respected madam, hi sorry to hear about your issue.
As mentioned by you your husband himself is against his own recovery.
If he is not compliant with strict measures which are required then all risks ranging from -- Diabetic Retinopathy -- Diabetic Nephropathy -- Diabetic
Neuropathy -- Major vessels occlusions -- Peripheral gangrenes -- DVT -- CV Strokes and lot more he may get.
*Try to make him first totally aware in terms of non-compliance for future
detrimental outcomes.
*Strict dietary control.
*Strict control of BP, Blood sugar, Cholesterol levels.
*Strict avoidance of smoking / alcohol / other addiction drugs at all.
*Avoid stress / anxiety.
*Have adequate sound sleep of 8 hours.
*Mobilisation, regular walking, exercises and YOGA as part of normal life.
Lastly if not willing to comply with any of the above, he has right to decide
his own destiny.
Hope I have tried my level best to justify your query till my best clinical
experience.
Thanks for using Health Care Magic and reviewing my answer.
Hope things turn out to be positive for you and your husband.
Regards.
Take care, bye Dear.
