Suggest Cause And Remedy For Recurring Stomach Pain In Children

My daughter is 10 and has ben complaining of stomach pain on and off for the last week and a half. She was able to continue with school and sport activities till the last 2 days. Complains of mild to moderate pain before and sometimes after she eats. Pain concentrated on stomach area right above belly button. Did not go to school as she could not concentrate. Took her to the doctor yesterday and could not pin point a diagnosis but ruled out appendicitis.Should I bring her to a specialist. This has been stressful for both of us.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Since the pain is in the stomach area and worse before and after eating, it is possible that it is inflammation of the stomach, gastritis.

This responds to reflux medication in most persons so you may want to try this to see if it has any effect on her discomfort. Eg lansoprazole or esomeprazole.
It can sometimes take a few days for this medication to take effect.

I hope this helps
