Suggest Blood Pressure Medications That Do Not Contain Sulfa

I am allergic to sulfa, I have been taking Exforge 5-160 for quite sometime. Due to insurance changes I now take Valsartan and amlodipine. I just started it now I realize they contain sulfa. On researching Exforge I learned that it is the same medication. That explains a lot of symptoms I ve had nothing severe. What Blood pressure meds does not have Sulfa??

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Welcome to health care magic,

First of all,you must undergo routine blood tests, liver function tests, creatinine, lipid profile,ECG, 2D-echocardiography of heart and tread mill test to check the heart status.(As you are also having medical insurance)

Your anti-hypertensive medication will vary according to physician's choice and will depend upon the above investigations.

I would advise to start with calcium channel blocker(amlodipine) or ACE inhibitors like enalapril with salt restricted diet and some life style modifications and which does not contain any sulpha components.

You must consult physician for thoroughly clinical examination and treatment.

Regards,
