Hello. Thank you for writing to us at healthcaremagic
You have developed irritation to the topical antiacne creams that you have been using. Both tretinoin as well as benzoyl peroxide can cause redness and irritation, though they are excellent antiacne topical preparations. I suggest you to temporarily discontinue both of these for the time being and let the dermatitis resolve. Use a gentle cleanser for face wash e.g cetaphil cleansing lotion, twice daily. You may use an OTC topical steroid e.g hydrocortisone 1% cream, twice daily for 3-5 days to hasten resolution of dermatitis. Once the irritation resolves, you may restart with the topical preparations, however use them sparingly and use them as a short contact therapy in the beginning i.e for just 2 hours and wash them off with cetaphil cleansing lotion. You may use them for longer time subsequently as tolerance to the topical preparations develops gradually.
