Suggest An Alternative To Acetaminophen For Pain After Spine Surgeries

My long term meds have been changed from the hydrocodone-acetameniphen 5/500 to the newly regulated 5/325. I have had 8 spine surgeries, am still extremely active, slender, etc. I was taking 2 1/2 to 3 per day; less greatly affects my ability to walk. Is there anything else I can do other than take 2 Acetaminophen 500 caplets with the 5/325 to affect the same relief?

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

You would need to take one of the acetaminophen instead of two, to try to achieve the same effect.

You can also try adding a pain killer from another family of medications to see if this helps you eg naproxen or ibuprofen.

If there is no effect then your doctor may need to consider changing the hydrocodone/acetaminophen to another medication.

I hope this helps
