Suggest An Alternative For Omeprazole

I recently tried to discontinue use of Omeprazole ( with advice from my GP) after reading reports of dementia with long term use of these meds. I m trying Zantac, but am very uncomfortable with reflux and upset stomach. Do I have other options? - YYYY@YYYY

Thanks for asking.
Discontinuation of long use of antacids can cause reflex acidity.
It is advise to shift to lower antacids and then taper off. Increasing the dose of rantac can be helpful. If the problem persist consider consulting the doctor and shifting to more potent drug can be needed.
