Suggest Alternative Medication For Lice

My dad brought over a dog and didn t tell me it had fleas until they left. I ve tried Dawn dish soap, apple cider vinegar, regular vinegar, mineral oil, olive oil, Dawn & apple cider vinegar, mineral oil & apple cider vinegar, over the counter Lice shampoo & prescribed Lice shampoo. I even got so desperate I put salt in my hair. I ve sprayed house from top to bottom, sprayed & even gotten rid of furniture. Covered all beds with plastic, washed all stuffed animals in the house. This has gone on since March... at first I was seeing black specs and now I m seeing white bugs. We just got a hamster that was fine until I held it... now it has white bugs too... I have a dermatologist appointment in 5 days but don t have insurance so it d be nice if I could get rid of them before then... I don t know if it s fleas, mites or Lice.... please help! I m so desperate!! No one in my house is being effected but me! (Other than hampster now...)

Dermatologist 's  Response
Hi.
As per your case history you are having pediculosis, my treatment advice is -
1. Maintain good hygiene and bath twice daily.
2. Apply a 1% permethrin lotion on scalp once a week for 30 minutes.
3. Take an antihistamine medication like levocetrizine twice daily for itching.
4. Other treatment options are oral antibiotics, oral ivermectin given only after consulting a dermatologist.

Thanks.
Dr. Harshit bhachech.
