I am a 43 year old female with hypertension and allergic rhinitis. I am currently employed as a Stylist. While cutting hair one day, hair from customers ended up getting trapped inside my bra and irritated my skin underneath my left breast and left finger. I went to the nearest care clinic and was diagnosed with a dandruff fungus. The doctor prescribed a fungal cream for yeast infections to be used twice a day. So far, this has not cleared the problem. It s itchy, red and flaky. Do you think I need an antibiotic to speed up the healing process?
Hi. As per your case history of dandruff. My treatment advice is - 1. Avoid hair oil application for 1 month. 2. Apply an antifungal lotion like clotrimazole lotion twice daily on affected part. 3. Take an antihistamine medication like levocetrizine twice daily for 7-10 days. 4. Other treatment options are oral fluconazole, itraconazole and terbinafine taken only after consulting a dermatologist.
Thanks. Dr. Harshit bhachech. MBBS, DDVL.
