4 weeks ago I was diagnosed with liver access of 10 cm by biopsy and ct scan with contrast and spent 6 days in hospital taking iv antibiotics. I got released and have been taking Tab Metronidazole 750 mg TDS, Tab Nitazoxamide 50 mg BD, and Tab Pantop D 1 BD. Please suggest m e if Tab Metronidazole 750 mg is not available then what should I take is there any other same combination available.
After completing the course of treatment with amebicidal drugs you need to take luminal drugs (to kill the cysts in the intestines) like Iodoquinol or Diloxanide furoate.
Remember avoid taking alcohol or alcohol containing beverages during the course of treatment with drugs like Metronidazole or Tinidazole as they may cause a harmful reaction called "Disulfiram reaction".
Hope to have answered your query.
