Hi,
Thanks for asking.
Based on your query, my opinion is as follows.
1. She has been suffering from osteoarthritis for quite a long time.
2. Due to reduced bone space in joint, the cartilage covering the joint has got degenerated or worn out. Due to this loss of cartilage covering, her bones are rubbing each other, which is causing severe pain.
3. As the bones are close to each other, it is not performing the action of a joint and a joint in the form of total knee replacement surgery is necessary.
4. Depending on her physiological condition and ability to deal with anesthesia, you can discuss with her about surgery.
Hope it helps.
Any further queries, happy to help again.
