Suggest A Remedy For Swollen, Red And Painful Big Toe

Hello. I got a pedicure a week ago today. That night my left big toe began to hurt. It has hurt ever since and the left side of it (near the toenail) is swollen and red. I feel like it got a little better on days when I remember to put essential oils on it but tonight it is really hurting. What is this and what should I do?

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems that you are suffering from Paronychia that is infection in the skin that surrounds the toenail..
It is commonly caused secondary to injury to the nail cuticle which is delicate skin at the corners of nails and can easily get injured while pedicure leading to infection in the traumatized skin leading to pain and swelling..
I would suggest you to consult a Podiatrist and get evaluated and he can do a thorough clinical evaluation and can advise you to take a course of antibiotics and anti inflammatory painkillers..
Topical application of antiseptic ointment and steroid ointment can relieve..
You can also soak your feet in warm water with epson salt in it..
Avoid injury to the area again..
In case if there is pus accumulation in that area incision and drainage can be done..
