Suggest A Remedy For Cough And Cold In A Child
My daughter is 5 and in Kindergarten. She came home with a cold Dec 19th and missed 4 days of school. Fever for 20th, 21st, 22nd low grade. I (45) also caught the cold. It seemed she was better, but not 100% and went back to school. Her cough is not going away as well as mine. She has good days, very high functioning, no fever, but the evening comes and the cough gets worse with what sounds like a horse ness to it. I also develop a tickle and the cough will not stop. Again, she does not have a fever, but a runny nose has developed again along with glassy eyes from time to time. I am puzzled. Should I take her to see her doctor?

As per your query your child have cough and cold like symptoms which are pointing towards upper respiratory tract infection leading to common cold, which can be caused by bacterial or viral infection. I would suggest you to consult pediatrician for proper examination. Doctor may order test like throat swab test and blood test to confirm the diagnosis and rule out causes. Doctor may prescribe anti bacterial amoxicillin or anti viral acyclovir depending upon the diagnosis along with decongestants. For now avoid cold beverages . You should take steam inhalation along with vaporizers.
