Hi. Around 12 in the morning, i was experiencing constipation so i went to poop. But when i tried to poop, it didn't come out. I felt like it was stuck there and sitting there. I was on the toilet for about 2 hours (sum up). I tried different position on the toilet, but no result. I felt the gas build up, but i was able to relieve it. What medication should i take. I am a 15 year old from Australia.
The causes of constipation can be: 1. Any pathology/ sub acute obstruction in the Gastrointestinal tract. 2. Irritable bowel syndrome- constipation predominant type. 3. Functional cause- due to decreased gastric motility. 4. Inadequate intake of fluids and fiber rich diet. 5. Hormonal & Metabolic causes, etc.
Though symptomatic relief can be obtained by intake of laxatives, the underlying cause needs to be treated. So, it will be better to consult a Gastroenterologist for a proper clinical examination. Investigations like complete blood count, stool examination, Ultrasound scan of abdomen, Colonoscopy & contrast studies will be helpful to rule out any pathological cause for your symptoms.
Till then, maintain adequate hydration & proper nutrition status. Wishing a good health. Take care.
