Suggest A Permanent Solution For Reoccurring Shingles

I have had reoccurring shingles for 25 years. Stress is a factor, not always. I had a 2 month bad attack thanksgiving to Christmas. It just finally dried up, and I have a new lesion on my right leg, it just started yesterday! Needless to saw I am at my wits end!,,,, my primary Dr has me on 1000 mg of Valtrex twice a day. Is there any thing else I can try to stop this cycle . Thanks Rosey

General & Family Physician 's  Response
thank you for posting your query in healthcaremagic.com....

i understand your concern....
see recurrent shingles is vary rare...
but when t happens, it is very hard to treat...
mostly happens when shingles occurred first time in elderly patients, or in immunocompromised patients.....

treatment involves acyclovir or valacyclovir, painkillers and some soothing lotions...in case of postherpetic neuralgia, gabapentin or amitriptyline is effective...

hope this was helpful...
hope you a speedy recovery....

regards
