Suggest A Dietary Plan To Lose Weight

I have been trying to lose weight for more than 30 years and keep it off. I am 65 in May 2014 and at the moment weigh 216 pounds and I am 5 2 . I take levothyroxine for thyroid and a week ago quit taking simvastatin for high cholesterol because of muscle aches as a side affect. I was also taking CoQ 10 max which was supposed to alleviate those side affect but it did not work. I have tried statins 4 times in the past and always end up hurting from head to toe. I m tired of hurting. I have bad knees, especially the right one and arthritis in the knees and other places, so moving is not always easy. I do walk when weather allows and ride a stationary bike. I eat lots of veggies and fruits, whole grains and proteins and stay away from a lot of sugar and still gain weight. I have lost up to 40 pounds in the past only to gain it back when the diet failed to keep working. I read recently that soy can affect thyroid function so have tried to take that out of my diet which is impossible in America I found. I take a vitamin c and 80 mg asprin and 2 fish oil pills and a glucosamine-chondroitin-msm pill every day. I do not have high blood pressure and for my age stay fairly healthy I think. I want to get some weight off for my health and so I can walk and move better. I am living on social security and cannot afford an expensive diet plan as our finances can not be stretched further. I hope you have some answers for me. Thanks, Sue
