Suffering With Impetigo On Face. Will Toothpaste Help In Curing It?
hi i have recently just caught a rash on my face called impetigo and ive been hearing lots of ways to treat with it, i heard there is a cream for it but i have not been out because i am so embarrassed about it and dont want anyone to see me, so i looked up on google to find if their was any home treatments and found out that toothpast was mainly used, i am not sure wether this will work.... so will toothpaste work on an impetigo infection?
Hello
Welcome!
I would be pleased to answer your question . I would not advise you to apply toothpaste on the area as it can cause severe burns and irritation when applied on skin .
You should apply and clean the area with a local mild cleansing lotion and you can apply at home some turmeric powder on it .
In case you need to take a medication you can apply over the counter Neosporin cream on the area twice day for a few days .
Thanks for writing in.
The lesions you are describing can be of Impetigo. Some persons are susceptible to get recurrent impetigo due to a bacterium called Staphylococcus aureus.
Toothpaste may aggravate the problem. It may further irritate the skin and cause eczema.
Meanwhile you can apply an over the counter antibiotic cream like fucidic acid or mupirocin cream to help them resolve faster.
