Hi,

Welcome to HealthcareMagic forum.

Pencillin, Macrolide or broad spectrum antibiotic are most effective antibiotic against streptococcus. Check with your treating physician whether or not the antibiotic which you are on is effective against the strep.

Nevertheless, I understand your concern and the difficulties you can face while swallowing. In this regards, I suggest you to try gargling with solution made up of warm water and disprin (dispersible aspirin). Most of my patients have found this very useful in relieving the distress and throat complain.

I suggest you to try this and let me know your response to it. In the meantime plan your review with your doctor.

Hope this helps.

Regards

ENT Specialist Dr. Praveen kumar's  Response
hi.if your throat is still hurting it means the infection is persisting.this could be due to antibiotic resistance[the streptococcus bug is not being killed by your present antibiotic].consult an ENT doctor and get your antibiotic changed.
