Suffering From Laryngitis. Should I Use Decongestant? Any Side Effects?
Sould I be using a decongestant for laryngitis? My doctor says it's due to a virus infection but I don't have any other cold symptoms. I read on the Mayo Clinic website to avoid decongestants but my doctor said to use Mucinex which hasn't done anything for the laryngitis. It's been 5 days with little or no voice. Thank you.
Hi, Welcome to Health care magic forum. Laryngitis may be due to cold, infection, or due to excess usage by talking, or singing, shouting etc. The treatment depends upon the diagnosis, so i advise you to consult an E.N.T surgeon, for diagnosis and treatment. Unless the infection is controlled one cant have complete relief. Avoid taking fruits juices, and cool things for few days. Decongestants didn't work so you can avoid them. Wishing for a quick and complete recovery. Thank you.
