Suffering From Joint And Chest Pain. Taking Augmentin Duo, Velgut. High ASO Levels. Treatment?
my daughter is 15 years and found aso result as 581 doctor suggested to take injection for 5 years. other tests are normal. what step I have to taken she had joint pain and chest pain , doctor had given her medicine of augmentin duo 625(amoxillin) and Capsule Velgut is it ok for her, or I have to go for another test or not???
It seems ur daughter had rheumatic fever, and probably a rheumatic carditis.
Kindly undergo an echocardiogram to find out the effects of rheumatic carditis.
Usually penicillin v tablet is enough, 250mg twice daily. or penidure injection once in 3 weeks. This s to prevent further episodes of sorethroat leading to rheumatic fever or carditis.
Augmentin is not needed in ur case, and it s a little broad spectrum antibiotic; Not advisable to take it in longterm.
What u need now is an echocardiogram, repeat ASO titre and penicillin prophylaxis for next 5yrs
