Suffering From Hypertension, Anxiety. Taking Amlodipine, Concor. Which Drug Is Safe To Drop?

I was diagnosed as having " Hypertension " and recently had been having " anxiety" related problems due to loss of job. My doctor gave me 10 mg of Amlodipine and 0.125 mg of Concor 2.5 ( half tablet ) to be taken once a day. What are the side effects of both drugs ? My Blood Pressure is now in control and in the good range , if I want to drop off one drug , which is a safer bet ?

Hi,
Welcome to HCM,
You are having High blood pressure with anxiety, it is possible to have anxiety after stress like job loss.
I presume your Blood pressure must be high that is why 10 mg Amlodipine and because beta blockers are also useful in anxiety may be concor was given 1/2 tab of 2.5 mg is too little dose to have significant effect on Blood pressure.
These drugs are in general tolerated well but common side effects includes for amlodipine Other side effects have included edema (up to 14.6%), flushing (up to 4.5%), fatigue (4.5%), and back pain (up to 2%), other may be headache, dizziness.
For (Concor) bisoprolol slower heart rate, cold and numb fingers and toes, constipation, diarrhoea
feeling dizzy,headaches.
Please do not stop any drug by yourself if your Blood pressure is all right report it to your Physician and get adjustment in dose by doctor.
Take care
Good Luck.

Hello,
The most common side effects of AMLODIPINE are fatigue, headache, pedal edema, sexual impotency, gingival hypertrophy.
The most common side effects of CONCOR are slow heart rate, feeling of coldness and numbness in extremities, sexual impotency.
However these side effects are very minor and cause some problem in initial 1 to 2 weeks.
Gradually these effects taper off.
As far as stopping one drug is concernd,it is not required.
Unnecessarily the blood pressure may shoot up and this may cause problem to you.
Never stop any drug of your own.
Thanks
